Who Can Participate?

Open to both boys and girls from 13-24 years old. All ability levels are welcome and no prior sports or foreign language experience is necessary. All levels of Spanish speakers are accepted, from elementary up to native speaker.

EduKick Madrid Football & High School

The EduKick Madrid Football & High School Program is one of Edukick's signature Programs. It is a full academic year program (August through June) through which participants will be able to complete a full High School grade or a Spanish Language course from Alameda de Osuna High School, be part, for an entire season, of a Madrid local competitive football team and enjoy a full year of EduKick Madrid private technique development training sessions and personalized "Football Strength and Conditioning" training plans.

Participants will get the experience of living abroad in beautiful Madrid, Spain within a group of international players that share their football passion and also want to obtain quality academic studies, always under the strict supervision and guidance of the EduKick Madrid staff who will guide their efforts and help make the most of this "once in a lifetime" experience in Madrid.

The EduKick Madrid Football & High School Programs are equally focused on football development, education and developing intercultural competence

(ICC) by living in Spain. It is a learning experience that will boost participants overall potential, maturity and aspirations and will make them pursue their true dreams(both in football & professionally) with more commitment and determination and confidence.

EduKick Madrid staff are keenly aware of the challenges that our Academy presents to our players so they are fully committed to the overall education of each individual through our football development and

language immersion program.

Living, playing football and studying in Madrid, Spain as a teenager or young adult represents an enormous challenge for both the participant and the educators. From the participant courage, effort and character is required to succeed. From the staff, it demands professional guidance, supervision, mentorship and expertise in order to provide the required level of service to our young student-players.

Alameda de Osuna, Madrid is well-to-do neighborhood in the North East of Madrid, Spain. It is located close to Real Madrid training facilities, IFEMA, Parque Juan Carlos I, and just next to the beautiful and famous, Parque el Capricho.

EduKick Madrid home training facilities for all male participants are held at our private training grounds attached to the EduKick Madrid Resident complex. For the evening training sessions (3 per week) with the local Spanish club team, EduKick Madrid boys will train at the stadium complex of our affiliated Spanish Futbol Club, CD Canillas, located in the Hortaleza district. While all female participants will train and play with affiliated Female Club, MADRID CFF (www.madridcff.com)at the Estadio Municipal de Deportes Luis Aragones also located in the Hortaleza district.

Accommodations

Madrid apartments

All Edukick players get single room accommodation on shared apartments. Apartments are equipped with a full kitchen, washing/drying machines, wifi, and security.

Safety, Security, & Supervision

A safe family environment ideal for our players.

"El Capricho" is a quiet neighbourhoud away from the city hussle but still with an excellent public transport connection to the city centre.

EduKick Football Academies distinguishes itself with its commitment to safety, security and supervision. Football Academies' students have adult monitors/mentors assigned to them as part of the program for continual service, supervision and mentorship. EduKick Soccer Academies participant events and activities are also carefully monitored and supervised. EduKick Soccer Academies Program rules and regulations are designed to ensure the safety and security of our soccer player participants (i.e. curfews, permission to exit regulations, etc). All soccer player participants are required to carry personal health insurance. During our technical training sessions we have on-site non-emergency medical trainers and personnel who can provide basic athletic-injury care and support. EduKick Soccer Academies is committed to establishing an atmosphere that is safe and nurturing for our participants. We believe that after these basic needs are met for both our foreign and domestic student athletes, an environment conducive to learning a new language and soccer training is made comfortable and effective.

Accommodations

All EduKick Madrid student-athletes reside in our supervised private apartment complex next to our football training facilities and High School.

The EduKick Madrid residence apartments are fully furnished and all equipped with living room, modern kitchen, bathroom, central heat, washing machine, refrigerator, and stove. There is 24 hour security and supervision provided by our EduKick Madrid Adult Guides and Staff which provides a safe and secure environment with all of the comforts and conveniences that are required by international students.

EduKick Madrid participants are served three full meals per day, with breakfast served daily in their private apartments (cereal, yogurt, fruits, juice, etc) and BOTH lunch and dinner served daily at our affiliated Spanish restaurant, La Bekada (http://www.labekada.com/), located only two shorts blocks from our apartment complex.

Education

Year Long, Half Year & Monthly participants attending the EduKick Madrid Spanish Language & Soccer program receive Spanish Language classes at International House MADRID Language Institute. Group size will be 12-15 students per teacher. The aim of our 10 hours per week intensive Spanish course is to achieve a sound level of communicative ability in the language, with an emphasis on spoken Spanish, working toward taking a DELE Spanish Language Proficiency Exam at the end of the course (for academic year players).

All EduKick Spain Year Long High School students are taught at our affiliated Private Spanish High School, Colegio Alameda (http://www.colegio-alameda.com). It is one of the best Private High Schools in Spain with the 3rd best student scores of Madrid. Participants are required to demonstrate a beginning level in communicative Spanish in order to be accepted into the High School and succeed in their High School academics. Upon registration a telephone interview will take place and participants will be advised if their application can proceed based upon their current level of Spanish language.

EduKick Madrid Summer Camp participants receive daily Spanish language classes. Each class is taught by native, qualified, experienced, and licensed teachers following a progressive and organized curriculum. During the first lesson all campers will receive a Spanish language evaluation and subsequently will be taught in Beginner lessons or intermediate/advanced classes.

Academic Background: PhD in Sports Sciences (Doctoral thesis dissertation about Football) MSc in High Performance in Sports BSc in Physioteraphy UEFA "A" Football coach.

Professional Experience Football (13 seasons):
Currently: Fitness coach at Real Madrid(Under-21 professional team)
Previously:
2 seasons (2012-2013 & 2011-2012): Sport Scientist and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Manchester City FC
4 seasons working for Atletico de Madrid as fitness & assistant coach for the U-21 and U-19 teams (Former players from this team where David de Gea & Koke, in Spain s squad for the 2014 World Cup)
6 seasons working as fitness coach & assistant coach for U.D San Sebastian de los Reyes (Segunda Division B).

Additional Experience Football:
Associate Professor in the Sports Science Faculty of the Technical University of Madrid teaching "Football" (2008-2011) Scientific Advisor for the FIFA Referring Department in international tournaments (2003-2010) More than 20 papers published in international scientific peer-review journals.

Year Long, Half Year & Monthly participants will receive daily training sessions (4 times per week) in the morning from 8:00AM until 9:30AM at the EduKick Madrid home training pitch located in Alameda de Osuna (located directly behind our EduKick Madrid resident apartments). Additionally, our academy players will be inserted onto a local Spanish club team for three (3) evening training sessions and weekend matches (according to their age and level).

Technical Futbol Coach:: Javier Martin:
The EduKick Madrid technical football coach for the morning program is Mr. Javier Martin. He was a former professional player and since 2004 he has been working as a football coach and sporting director at Atletico Alcobendas (http://www.alcobendas04.com). Mr. Martin holds the UEFA "A" coaching license. Due to his pro futbol background and coaching experience in Madrid, he has extensive professional relationships with all the local clubs (both amateur and professional) in the Madrid area.

In regard to the insertion of the players onto local clubs, our primary club partnership for male participants is C.D. Canillas (http://www.cdcanillas.com), where we enjoy the support of both the Club President and Sporting Director.

In the case of a very talented (potential professional player) that attends EduKick Madrid, we have secured a relationship with the Sporting Director of U.D. San Sebastian de los Reyes, and we can include these "more talented" players in their club structure. U.D. Sanse is currently playing for promotion to Segunda Division "B". On the other hand, if a player is not selected to play for C.D. Canillas, they will join Alameda de Osuna, another local Spanish club just near the player's residence.

EduKick CommunicationsCommunication & Reporting

EduKick International Soccer Academies prides itself on excellent communication and reporting. All of our participants are provided with language progress reports. EduKick Madrid Year-long EduKick International Soccer Academies student-athletes will receive six (6) technical soccer evaluation reports and six (6) academic reports (from the affiliated educational institution) throughout the duration of the academic year course. EduKick International Soccer Academies also provides periodic behavioral/social updates from our Directors in the field. These reports are designed to serve as "updates" on general group activities, excursions, special events and any particular issues that may have transpired. The reports are often accompanied by digital photos or video clips that are emailed to parents for their review and enjoyment.

Group Social Events

Although extracurricular activities are not mandatory, however we strongly encourage that students take part in them, as they are useful complement to each program. Swimming, music, dance, judo, foreign languages, study and homework completion groups are offered after school hours. Schedules and descriptions of these activities are here.
